Full Adoption Rules & Care Standards

Hello! 😊
Thank you for your interest in adopting a cat from Cat Care Community. We care deeply for every cat we rescue and want to ensure they find loving, responsible, and safe homes.
Please take a few minutes to read our adoption guidelines 🐾

🧡 1. Responsible, Lifelong Commitment

Adoption is a long-term promise — cats can live 15–20 years. We’re looking for adopters who will treat their cat as a true family member through all of life’s changes.

Please remember:

  • Adjustment takes time — patience is key

  • Use calm, respectful communication with your cat

  • Support socialization, especially for cats rescued from the streets

🥩 2. Nutrition

Your cat must receive high-quality food with at least 70% meat content to stay healthy and thrive.

Recommended brands:
Carnilove, Applaws, Orijen, JOSERA, Leonardo, N&D, Farmina, Nature’s Variety, Royal Canin (except Babycat), Schesir, GranataPet, Ziwi Peak, Canagan, etc.

Avoid: food with sugar, colorants, artificial flavors, or grain fillers.

💧 3. Daily Care

Adopters agree to:

  • Provide fresh water daily and keep the bowl clean

  • Clean the litter box at least 1–2 times per day

  • Give attention, affection, and daily playtime

  • Monitor appetite, behavior, and health

  • Provide scratching posts, toys, and hiding spots

  • Seek veterinary care at the first sign of illness

💉 4. Vaccinations & Preventive Care

Adopters agree to:

  • Vaccinate according to age and vet recommendations

  • Maintain yearly boosters

  • Apply regular deworming and flea/tick protection

🪟 5. Home Safety

To prevent accidents, please:

  • Secure all windows, including tilt-open types, with screens or guards

  • Allow balcony access only if fully enclosed with safety netting

  • Keep chemicals, medicines, cords, and small objects out of reach

  • Always check washing machines/dryers before use

🏥 6. Microchipping & Adoption Handover

Adoptions take place at a vet clinic, where:

  • Your cat will be microchipped (mandatory in Latvia)

  • You pay the fee on-site (approx. €50)

  • You receive a passport and vet advice before taking your cat home

💸 7. Donation

A €25 donation is requested to help cover:

  • Health check

  • Parasite treatment (fleas, worms)

  • Ongoing rescue work

🚗 8. Transport

Bring a secure cat carrier.
We never release cats in boxes or by hand — this is for their safety.

🚫 9. Indoor-Only Policy

All adopted cats must be kept indoors:

  • No free roaming outdoors

  • Balcony use only if secured with netting

  • Harness walks or enclosed gardens are optional

📝 10. Adoption Agreement

You’ll sign an adoption agreement confirming:

  • You’ve read and understood these rules

  • You accept full responsibility

  • You’ll provide a safe, loving home for life

📸 11. Post-Adoption Contact

  • We may ask for updates and photos in the first few months.

  • If you can’t keep your cat, you agree to:

    • Contact us immediately

    • Not rehome without our consent

💬 Final Thought
Every cat we rescue has a story — some have faced great hardship. They all deserve safety, stability, and love.
If you share these values, we’d be delighted to continue the conversation and help you meet your future best friend 🐾💛

With warmth,
